Notes from my travels
A travel blog – where to start?
What will people want to read that hasn’t been written before? Is it worth doing?
Those were my initial thoughts. But then I realised I’m not writing this for anyone else. I’m writing it for myself. Of course, I hope others enjoy reading it, but that’s not really the point.
My destination guides are written with other people in mind. They’re practical, structured, and designed to help you plan a trip. This is different.
This is a place to reflect on the trips I’ve been on, the places I’ve seen, and most importantly, the people I’ve travelled with or met along the way.
Looking back, I know how lucky I’ve been. Not just to visit the places I have, but to share those experiences with like-minded people who are curious about the world and open to learning from it.
Living and working in different places has broadened my perspective and helped me see things differently. It’s also given me the chance to experience countries and cultures beyond the usual tourist highlights.
Some of my earliest holidays were to caravans and chalets — simple trips, but the start of something much bigger. Since then, I’ve stayed in everything from very basic accommodation to more comfortable places, and I’ve learnt to appreciate both. It’s never really been about where I stay, but about where I am and what I’m experiencing.
